Summer's here, and today, so are the sounds of neighborhood children splashing in a pool. The sun is shining warm and the sky is a brilliant shade of blue. It's hard to believe that the 2012-2013 school year in Camas, WA is just around the corner.

Remember those fun summer days spent as a kid?  Tanned arms and legs, freckles dotting our noses and perhaps, our hair several shades lighter, all thanks to the sun. However, during the waning days of late summer, thoughts often take us to back-to-school reality.

Most of the time, returning to a new school year is an exciting prospect. Old friends, new friends (and teachers!), fresh starts and new beginnings sound pretty inviting. And, with back-to-school shopping for new clothes, shoes and supplies, it can be a busy time of the year.

It's easy to reminisce about those days at a local Fred Meyer store, with school supply lists in hand for my children. They are grown now, but the memories of their anticipation and happiness over new notebooks, paper and pens still warms my heart.

  Students at the high school level are encouraged to bring basic supplies (e.g. notebooks, paper pens, pencils, etc.) on the first day of school. During the first week of school, individual teachers will let students know which supplies are necessary for each class.
