Andy Williams - Another End of an Era
Wow! The music and entertainment industry in general lost another icon today. Andy Williams gone today at the age of 84. This era in the music and entertainment industry seems to be disappearing far too quickly.
Seems like only yesterday I can remember his songs permeating our surroundings and being ever-present. You could hear his melodies everywhere. It was a given and there was no question as to the validity or style of his music.
I can remember his music playing on the record player and my parents dancing in the living room. I just listened, not interrupting, not even thinking of anything else. It was just a place in time when you didn’t add anything to the script.
In memory of Andy Williams.....
Ahhh... Andy Williams. I can remember that so many of his songs were popular when I was in high school. What a great voice. I am so glad for him, and for the public in general, that he had his place in Branson... so such a large group of folks could see him again and renew old memories.
Jan, being on vacation I have not listened to the news, thank you for sharing, I am sad to hear of the loss of Andy Williams. I remember President Reagan commenting once that his voice is a National Treasure!
Good morning Jan. You are right, as old favorites like Andy Williams pass it does mark an end of an era. I too have memories of Andy and my childhood. May his memory be for a blessing.
My favorite Andy Williams Christmas tunes will certainly hold extra special meaning this coming holiday. Love Happy Holidays.
Carolyn - Thanks for commenting. So many people were able to hear his music, pretty neat.
Endre - What a spot on comment about his music and voice. Accurate for sure.
Sheila - It's interesting how we relate music to specific points in time. Hope yours were positive, too.
