Stephen Covey used to say that you needed to take to sharpen your saw. Work, work, and more work leaves you dull and makes completing the job more difficult. Taking the time to sharpen your tools, in the end actually will save you time and effort. Still unfortunately, this is a task that usually ends up last on my to-do list and far too often unchecked.
After making the decision to transition from professional home stager to Realtor, I hired a growth coach. One of his top recommendations was that I take more time to sharpen that saw. I confessed that I live off of the river and despite the fact that I have beautiful nature just outside my door that I'm lucky if I get out to the end of the dock once or twice a week. One of my new goals is to now spend at least 10 minutes doing something for me - ideally sitting on that dock.
Today, I made sure (thanks really to my husband) to accomplish this simple task. Here is what my 10 minutes, OK, it turned into 30 minutes once I was out there, brought me... (both of these were taken with my iphone5, btw)
But no, I wasn't just treated to a magnificent sunset, I was also treated to a lumbering manatee who decided to dine just off of our dock.
So, here is to sharpening your saw....
