A few weeks ago I got a text from a friend that is going to be buying a home in the next six months. She was at the Y and was going to the bathroom. She texted me and said "Um. Jared? The lender you referred me to is watching me pee!"
WHAT??
She went on to explain that this particular lender was advertising his information on the inside of a bathroom stall. I chuckled.
Fast forward to today.
I was with a past client having lunch. She excused herself to go the bathroom. A few minutes later she texted me and said that "Bob the Lender" was watching her pee.
I laughed again because I knew exactly what she was talking about.
Then I started thinking... is this the best way to advertise? On a bathroom stall?
I've been to restaurants and a few pubs where I have seen advertising right above the urinal, and have been a bit turned off by it.
I'm enjoying a private moment doing something that isn't quite sanitary, and I see a call to action from a giant advertisement right in front of my face?
Meh.
What are your thoughts?
These lenders are really getting their names out there, but during some pretty private moments.
Are they expecting you to jot their name and number down at that exact moment??
I hope not, but if so... there is plenty of "paper" around to write on.
