Why I Love San Ramon California

San Ramon California is located in Contra Costa County California about 45 minutes east of San Francisco. It’s easily accessible sitting right on the I680 corridor yet far enough out of the main San Francisco area to be a quieter, more community orientated town. The prices are more reasonable than in downtown San Francisco for basic living expenses yet you are less than an hour away from all the fabulous San Francisco shops, the pier, the Bay, the ocean, Berkeley and of course just a couple hours from the Napa and Sonoma County wine countries. San Ramon CA

San Ramon is home to about 75,000 residents making it the fourth largest in our County and we’re also the headquarters of several major US industries such as Chevron, 24-hour fitness, and the West Coast headquarters of AT&T. We have one of the best medical facilities in the County, the San Ramon Medical Center in addition to several middle schools, high schools, elementary schools and private or alternative schools in the area.

San Ramon is also known as “Tree City USA ” for our abundance of oak tree orchards in the area. We have pretty mild temperatures year-round with highs in the mid to late summers of around 80° and lows topping out in the mid-30s. So our climate is pretty mild year-round which gives us beautiful weather for festivals, events, community activities and more.

There are dozens of parks and community centers around the San Ramon area such as the Crow Canyon Gardens, the Forest Home Farms, San Ramon Central Park and Old Ranch Park. Several of these historical associations are organized to preserve and protect historical buildings and landscape in the area.  Most parks in San Ramon offer a variety of sports activities, courts, fields, and events such as Frisbee golf, off leash dog areas, community gardens and more. There’s always something to do outside around the San Ramon area and you don’t have to leave the city limits to find year-round activities.

Events and Festivals

San Ramon is home to several annual events and activities such as community lighting ceremonies, performing arts, jazz and music festivals during the summer, children’s theaters, pumpkin patches, movies in the park, historical tours and dozens more annual and monthly activities and events.

While most events are appropriate for the entire family there are some great summer camps and recreational programs throughout the summer and the school year for kids of all ages; sports camps, library programs, community and performing arts, and classes for kids from preschool age to adults.

Golf in San Ramon CAGolf

If you’re into golf the San Ramon area has several courses to choose from, from the Crow Canyon Country Club, to Bridges Golf Course and everywhere surrounding San Ramon. Crow Canyon is located at the foothills of Mount Diablo and it’s a family oriented club with activities and events for everyone including tennis courts, a junior Olympic pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, an 18-hole golf course, and several spots to catch your breath, have a drink, or enjoy fine or casual dining. Bridges Golf Course offers holiday events and local tournaments all encapsulating a stunning view of the surrounding valley.

Why do I love San Ramon? We have everything one could want in small-town luxury and atmosphere yet within an hour to big city lights, festivals, shopping and more. What’s not to love about San Ramon California? Photo Source: Jon 'ShakataGaNai' Davis

The thing that would be most attractive tome would be the mild temperatures year-round. I really dislike being COLD! Beautiful photos!!

Joni, thanks for the commenting on my post.  Yes, it's great here.  Here in San Ramon we have a Mediterranean climate...summers are warm/dry and winters a cool/wet.
