Pre-Thanksgiving trip to the grocery store

Let’s face it:  some things about the holidays are great, some not so much.  The trip to the grocery store in advance of a major holiday is an event few consider fun- so I offer just a wee bit of humor coming from my trip to the local Publix grocery store earlier today.

How true Dennis, nothing is more dreaded than the grocery store right before Thanksgaiving.

I would give thanks to anyone who would do our holiday shopping for us.

Hi Dennis, My husband and I shopped at our local Publix this afternoon and survived the ordeal with no major problems. We managed to avoid the morning rush and shop before the 5 o'clock rush, that is about as good as it gets here. Our biggest challenge is the tourists who are not familiar with the layout of the store so slow down the locals who know the store. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

I can not believe those long children shopping carts! They take up a lot of distance in an isle...but that is  not really the problem. The problem is when they leave the dang things at an angle so NO ONE CAN GET THROUGH and on down the isle! Oh Vye!

Hi, Sussie:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Great minds think alike!  Heck, I couldn't find a good shot of one of those long, train-like things they maneuver around the place- but the thing in my picture is pretty long itself.  Any time you take a regular-sized shopping cart and attach anything to the front ot it, you're gonna wind up with an unwieldy contraption!

Have a great Thanksgiving, Sussie!

I have never been a fan of going to the grocery store on Thanksgiving Eve - same for the other holidays.  Now after seeing this video, I'll definitely stay home and have a drink too!

Dennis - I did my Thanksgiving grocery shopping yesterday.  Loved your video!  You have a great sense of humor and tell a story well.

Hi, Gail:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment and kind words.  It's a funny thing, but I've never been one of those folks that tells a ton of jokes- not one that tells jokes well or anything- but not at all.  I have always been a fairly keen observer, though!  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

LOL, Dennis!

The kid in the 10 foot shopping cart that looks like a race car... thank God they didn't have those things when I was a kid.  And the woman who "Stops" in the middle of the Aisle.  "Dress up, Ladies!"  Check Writer, have your ID ready!   Long lines... expensive Fanta Drink + 2 Gallons of Tea, Orange Juice.

       Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi, Fred:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment and kind words.  Those grocery stores are an endless source of conversation topics- ones I've already mentioned, but also folks that park in the handicapped spots and get out of their cars in full workout gear, folks who think the "10 items or less" sign is for everyone else, folks that somehow manage to snag that one item in the store whose UPC code won't scan and shuts down your aisle as the clerk flips her flashing light on for a price check...

Yep, endless... Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Fred!
