NYPD Officer Buys Sketcher Boots for a Homeless Man
This story has gone viral all over the country in the last day and it shows one great NYC police officer who has a caring heart.
A tourist, Jennifer Foster, who was visiting NYC on Nov 14, 2012, observed a police officer kneeling down to put on some boots on a homeless and shoeless man. The man had been sitting there asking for change and it was while Jennifer was approaching to give the man some money she observed this heartwarming event. She snapped the picture and later put it on her Facebook page. This FB photo has been shared 80,000 times and liked over 518,000 times.
The NYPD identified the officer as Larry DePrimo. The New York Times reported the 25-year-old police officer was shocked over the attention his action received. He gave the man 2 pair of warm wool socks and a pair of heavy all-weather boots he got at the Sketchers store nearby. DePrimo expected nothing in return and was just helping out a fellow person who needed some help.
Hooray for Larry DePrimo! We should all think about giving this season to the less fortunate especially with the cold, harsh winter upon us. He is a good example of what we should all be doing this holiday.
