Pasadena CA 2011 Windstorm - Realtor Michael Jacobs 818.516.4393 cell

Today, it rained in Pasadena CA.

Okay, not such a big deal for people throughout the world.   In Southern California, we know that rain means we will need to allot some extra time to travel plus that time to find our umbrellas.   There were accidents due to the slick roads -- yes, if you live in Pasadena and throughout Southern California -- you know that while we desperately need the rain, we don’t always do so well with it.

Last year on the evening of November 30 leading into December 1, 2011 - Pasadena and the western San Gabriel Valley was dramatically hit by some pretty horrific windstorms.   I wrote it about last year and provided some photos of the devastation.

Yes, I Know It's Not Kansas -- But It Was A Windy Night in Pasadena CA and the San Gabriel Valley

You can still see the effect with too many trees felled by the winds but the cities  in the San Gabriel Valley will continue to thrive.

Oh what we would give for a few precious drops of moisture....  100 drops would equal a storm on this ole dry desert floor.  Not sure where I was last year at this time.

Michael - On December 1, 2011, they were surfing here in Lake Tahoe and I got some amazing video, so I know exactly where I was at!  Great reminder about the huge windstorm!

Michael,  I remember when you posted about the winds and the collapsed canopy at the Shell station.  Now you are getting pounded with rain.  I just wish it would come our way and turn to snow.  Our ski resorts are at 2% for snow pack.

The American Spirit never ceases to amaze me.  We had those types of winds around here about 5 months ago and we have come back. . . look at the devestation they just had in NYC and NJ. . . they will come back.  It's awesome!

It is interesting...we do mark I lives by good or bad events...I am sure people in NY and NJ will be saying the same thing a year from now about Sandy.

Michael thank you for the memory boost, I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast yesterday....but something like this jolts you back to what is important and what is not to remember!

While, like Endre, I forget what I had for breakfast or sometimes where I left my keys -- the devastation of the windstorms last year was pretty unusual.    While we need the rain like many of our neighbors, it does make driving a bit more hazardous for those who aren't quite use to it or just too absorbed in  their little world.   I hope everyone is having a good weekend -- dark clouds today with some scattered sprinkling and more rain predicted this tonight and tomorrow.

Michael - Wow, I've seen some  similar devastation in South Florida over the years, usually because of the hurricanes though.
