Congratulations Iran Watson: 2012 Real Estate Photographer of The Year

Congratulations Iran!  It was just announced that Iran Watson is the Real Estate Photographer of the year, named by Photography for Real Estate, a site dedicated to improving the real estate photography industry.

I've watched Iran develop over the years into a very accomplished photographer.  He's kind and often helps aspiring photographers with their craft.  See many of his posts here on ActiveRain.  I also like that he doesn't flaunt his talent by trying to point out how much better his photos are than the average agent.

I just checked out the photographyforrealestate.net website. That website is awesome. Thanks for the post. Congrats to Iran.

I never thought I would see RE photography turn into an art form however Iran's talent shows that it has happened.  I congratulate him for making it so and his very well deserved recognition through this award.

Whether we realize it or not, RE photography became an art form when we started showing potential buyers homes on the internet.  The first showing is through the photos, which often determines if there will even be a second showing.  Marketing photos have become too important to allow for mediocrity and agents like Iran understand this.

Thank you everyone!  I dont frequent Activerain as much as I used to but I always check back from time to time.  And yes, I think it is completely fesible that RE photography (or any photography) for that matter can be viewed as an art form.  I try to approach every image I create, whether for my listings or other agents that I shoot for, as an opprotunity to paint a picture for the prospective buyer that elicits an emotional response.  Sure, its kind of hard to do with an empty bedroom or tiny half-bath, but I try nonetheless.
