One ENTIRE day off with NO electronics and 100% genuine contact with MY family.

Guess what?

I got that . . . and MORE!

Some would say that my expectations/aspirations weren’t very high this year.

After all, EVERY year of my conscious life I have asked for a red Porsche 911 . . . I have yet to find one under the tree (or in the driveway).

My daughter asked me on Christmas Morning why I didn’t ask for a Porsche this year?

I answered with a very contented smile 

We had a great Christmas at the Owen House this year, but there seemed to be a new flavor. The gifts were from the heart . . . not from an “Obligation to give” because of the season.

Seriously! Every gift had some significance, and there were more than few tears shed during the morning opening ritual.

Although a reasonable amount of STUFF exchanged hands . . . As I write this, I realize that none of was electronic – Soccer Ball, Scooter, Lacross Stick, Old-timey typewriter, Snow globe, Stained glass art, BOOKS, Shoes and boots and clothes . . . It was ALL stuff that MATTERS.

The best part about it was the opening celebration – The delight evident on the face of the giver as the receiver’s face lit up with excitement upon discovery of what the gift was.

Magnificent!

When the last present had been opened, we laid around and did not much more together than hang out and prepare for the evening feast.

If there had not been a single present for me under that tree, this still would have been the best Christmas EVER . . . Because we had our family together for a day . . . without outside interference.
