When working with clients I have to do research all the time. When working with sellers it's research to determine the list price and potential sales price. When working with buyers I also do the same research to determine offer price and potential purchase price.
My most recent research was into my family history. My grandfather was a 7th generation decent of Martha Talbot, who was married to William Talbot who fought in the revolutionary war. William's father Matthew also served during the Revolutionary war. So today I submitted my formal application of membership to the Daughters of the American Revolution. They said it could take up to two months for my lineage to be verified and membership accepted. And of course I will want my daughter to join too. Perhaps at her age she might not see or feel the importance of family history, but then again I didn't at her age either.
I think I'm pretty fortunate to be able to trace as much of my family roots as I can easily do. Much of the work has been done by members of my father's family as well as the differnt lineage on my mother's side that I have not yet connected to the revolutionary war. But I am hopeful that once a member and given access to some of the work and efforts of the DAR I can do that also. I will have to ask one of my cousin's on my mother's side of the family who is an author if she has done that research since I do know she has stuided and written about the family history on my mom's side.
I find it facinating to discover what I've learned. And it leaves me curious about the home of the Taylor's that my ancestors built in 1807 that has only ever been sold 4 times in the 200 plus years. Perhaps one day soon I can drive by and see it for myself. After all.... it's just a half hour drive from where I live.
And if you are looking for property in this area, who better to call than someone with 200 years of roots right here in central Georgia? I'd be happy to help you find a place to call home.
