The City of Avon and the Avon Local School District are currently developing a partnership to provide school resource officer support to the school district beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. This would provide an additional layer of security as well as prevention services for Avon students.

The Avon Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Police Officer. The Officer(s)’ primary duties would be to serve the department and the City of Avon as a School Resource Officer within the Avon Local School system. The successful candidate should be outgoing and comfortable talking in front of groups of people of various ages. The position has a competitive salary and requires flexible hours and days of the week.
Qualifications: All applicants must possess a current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certificate, a valid Ohio Driver’s License and a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and be at least 21 years of age. Although not required, the ideal candidate will have experience in classroom instruction and lesson plan development.

The completed application must be delivered or mailed to Candice Johnson at Avon Police Department, 36145 Detroit Road, Avon, OH 44011. It must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013.
