ALL MARYLAND HOMEOWNER'S MUST COMPLETE AN APPLICATION TO RECIEVE THE HOMESTEAD TAX CREDIT ON THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE.

WHY DO I CARE ABOUT THE HOMESTEAD TAX CREDIT?

Because of assessment increases and because of the low assessment caps adopted by the county governments, many homeowners in the State have been receiving substantial homestead credits each year on their property tax bills. (SDAT FAQ)

EXAMPLE:  One of our clients who failed to complete the application by the deadline would have owed $675.72 in additional taxes as of July 2013.  We let him know and he has since filed the application...he's safe!

Before filing form, be sure to check the Real Property database to see if you may have previously filed and been

approved for the Homestead Tax Credit. if so there is no need to reapply. The Homestead Credit Eligibility stays in

place as long as the dwelling remains your primary residence.

FOLLOW THE STEPS:

1.  Use the link above for the REAL PROPERTY DATABASE

2.  Use Drop Down To Find Your County or Baltimore City

3.  ENTER your street address number and street name-DO NOT ENTER street, drive, court etc.
