Movie Monday: The Lone WolfThe Bourne Identity

My favorite movie genre is ACTION. Spy movies, adventures, hero cops and villainous robbers. Throw in some car chases or fight scenes. In many cases, action movies have a lead character that is "the lone wolf". He (or she) works alone. No sidekick. Sometimes there's a team as with Ethan Hunt, or someone to help them along the way (Felix Leiter, CIA would show up in a Bond film from time to time), but in the end it's all about them. I've come up with 8 lone wolf characters that I've enjoyed. Maybe you can name a few that I've missed.

My Favorite "Lone Wolf" Characters:

Jason Bourne

Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible)

James Bond

John McClane (Die Hard)

Dirty Harry

Indiana Jones

Paul Kersey (Death Wish)

Lara Croft

Hmmm. After reading my list, I've noticed that all of these characters were in a series of movies and I loved all of them!

Good morning Donna -

Now this one .... The Lone Wolf sounds like a movie I could sit through.  We 'almost' went to a movie the other night then opted to go sit on the patio (Debbie could stay in her pj's) and watch the night sky.  We did have popcorn does that count?

Hello John~ I can't blame you for spending time on the patio. We watched a movie on Saturday night...Argo. It was good, but a bit long.

Bliz~ We haven't been the theater in several years. Iron Man 3 looks like the type of movie that would be awesome to see at the theater. I'll wait until it's available on Netflix.

Lou~ I'd like to see the Bourne Legacy also, even though Jason Bourne isn't in it. Still looks like a good action movie!

Donna, we really enjoyed Argo. Lately we watched another James Bond, Skyfall. I do remember Dirty Harry. I always appreciate your movie series. Thanks.

Hi Mary! We watched Skyfall a few weeks ago. Not my favortie Bond movie, but still enjoyed it. We watched Iron Man last night. I saw it 2 years ago, but Rich wasn't interested. With Iron Man 3 out in theaters I thought I would see if he would like it. We borrowed it from a friend. Rich liked it...a lot!

Donna, thank you for stopping by my blog - it is nice to meet you :)

My favorite would have to be Jack Bauer.  I also love Jason Bourne, Indiana Jones (I wish I was Indie!) and John McClane. Another series that I love, although he is not quite a lone wolf, is the Back to the Future series and, of course, Star Wars is another great series, as well.  Although only the first movie has been out, Hunger Games also takes a prize in my book for Action and Adventure.

Hi Lisa! Sure thing! Is Jack Bauer the character that Sutherland played on 24? I never watched that show. Back to the Future is fun and Star Wars is awesome! I have not seen the Hunger Games, but have it on my list to see this summer.

Hi Donna, Yes, Jack Bauer is the character that Keifer Sutherland plays on 24.  He is on my 'A Team'.  You should acquire the first season.  As with most things, the first is the best.  The second season is pretty good too.  The movie they made based on the show was not very good.

You MUST, MUST, MUST watch Hunger Games.  If you like to read, read the book first.  The movie actually follows the book true to form.  I can imagine myself as the main character, Katniss Everdeen,  Except for the having to kill people to fight for your life in a game, I think I would enjoy the rest of the game - the thrill of the hunt and being hunted, the adventure of climbing trees to sleep in for the night, or spending the night in caves, foraging for my own food, etc.  Except for the killing, the rest seems like fun!  If you love Indie, you will love Katniss.

Lisa~ I'm definitely a book reader. Hard copy books too, none of this ebook stuff for me! I'll have to wait to read The Hunger Games though. I just started a new Stephen King book about JFK and it's a thick book!
