Great Sexpectations: Gaithersburg Active Aging Expo, Monday, May 6
The City of Gathersburg offers many programs for senior citizens. This Monday, May 6, 2013, is the time to attend the Annual Active Aging Expo. Many of us could use a few tips on how to stay safe and be healthy as the years go by. Call some friends and have them attend this event with you.

The City of Gaithersburg’s 5th Annual Active Aging Expo is a day filled with energy, educational talks, interactive demonstrations, facials, massages, manicures, and preventive screenings. With a theme of “Aging Sensationally and Safely,” you’ll learn how to protect yourself during an unexpected disaster, how to stay healthy and safe at home, special concerns facing older adults, tips about consumer protection, and more.
The day will feature a variety of speakers covering an array of topics including “Demystifying Aging,” “Connecting in Friendship,” “Eleven Steps to Build a Happy Life,” “Searching Out Maryland Ghosts,” “Great Sexpectations,” and up-to-date information on the fight against diabetes.
Fitness demonstrations include Seated Chair Martial Arts, Hula Hoop Workout, Ageless Grace, and a Bollywood/Tango Fit/Zumba dance sensation. A performance by the Chinese American Senior Services dancers will conclude the day’s events.
You’ll find all this and more at the free Active Aging Expo on Monday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue, next to Gaithersburg High School. The expo is hosted in partnership with the Montgomery Village Foundation, Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission, Montgomery County Recreation Department, and Asbury Methodist Village. Not-for-profit organizations with information on health and wellness as well as businesses that specialize in serving older adults will also be on hand. Please note that the Gaithersburg Upcounty Senior Center will be closed on May 6 as all staff will be involved in this event.
