The Revenge of the Nerds...

In our digital world full of drop downs, point-and-click and GUI interfaces, it appears as if the recent changes in navigation in the ActiveRain network has left this blogger in one, big, gooey mess.
One one hand, I admire the geeks and nerds that so masterfully manipulate the 1's and 0's that make this platform work. On the other, I wonder if they they are so far out there in their world, that they have have lost touch with the end consumers who use their product? Should there not be a balance?
I feel that the drop-down for featured blogs is a long-awaited plus. However; navigation back to the blog-roll vastly needs improving.
Would not 3 radio button that link to the featured, general blog roll, and consumer blogs be a better idea? But then, what does this silly old brick kicker know? It appears as if the nerds have finally gotten their revenge...

Michael, as a technology novice all changes bring havoc, s I must leave the critical comments to the more masterful. Enjoy your day!

I think it is just a case of looks.... more appealing but less user friendly. Still, I will get used to it!

Michael-They will be fixing all the screen flipping by Thursday according to Bob Stewart. Roger Mucci wrote a post about it and many people said they weren't happy with it.  Hopefully doing that will put you and all of us in a less gooey or aggravated state. Have a great day

Morning Michael they are taking and have taken over so just roll with the punches.  Resisting will get you no where.  :~)  Didn't say I liked it :~)

Sometimes, change for the sake of change will not bring about positive results. I think a separate button to go to the main blogs page would be better myself.

Hi Michael,

Changes are goo in some cases and not so good in others. I will get used to using the Rain like it is.

That means I still don't like the changes, but whatyagonnado? LOL

Have a great day in Brentwood try and stay dry.

Best, Clint McKie

I think the roll over buttons are too sensitive. You get close to them and the drop down appears and then STAYS for too long.

Michael, Sharon beat me to it.  Saw the same thing from Bob on Roger's post, changes coming Thursday to hopefully address the pop up menu concerns.

Agreed!  I still don't think that any of the new changes are effective and I can't say that I know what the benefits/reasoning is...and the blog role  navigation is the most difficult and I use it so much!

Michel - One thing that I have noticed here is that the staff makes some changes to best serve the members. Things that make sense in the planning rooms don't always work well in practice. The geeks are good at listening a making additional changes to fix the glitches. I'm sure the drop down issue will be changed.

Michael, getting back to the blog roll is a real pain inthe donkey.  On my lap top the button to get back to the blog roll is below the bottom of the screen, so it is always a challenge to get to it.  AR needs to fix this, because if I am having that issue, I would expect that others would be experiencing that as well.

Michael, I saw where Bob Stewart made a comment on Roger Mucci's blog that they were going to try and fix a few things and might be ready by Thursday to put them up. I do like your analogy, however

For the most part I liked all the new changes so are with the exception of the delete this blog button near the insert picture button.... The drop down is pretty annoying but that is already being fixed.
