Are You Mentally Prepared for Pennsylvania Real Estate Exam?

Yes, you took Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice classes.  Yes, you passed both tests.  Yes, you submitted the required paperwork to PSI Exams.  And yes, you have confirmed the test day.

Let me ask the question again, "Are You Mentally Prepared for Pennsylvania Real Estate Exam?"

Alan Kells School of Real Estate

  • Clear your mind of other distractions
  • Get a good night sleep before test
  • Eat light & healthy meal

Do your best to eliminate as many distractions in your life.  Do not stay up all night craming for the test.  Most of us are too old to pull the 'all nighter' studying for an exam as we did in college.  Just go to bed and get a good night sleep.

Last, but not least, eat a light & healthy meal.  Why?  A rich, heavy meal with that extra glass of wine does not induce a restful sleep.

Andrew, testing is easy for some and hard for others as you described. As you said some test takers are there for second, third + + + time and nervous as cat on hot tin roof. However, one of my best sales agents took test seven times before she passed.

Sheila, I agree that we need to prepare properly for all important events. Hope things are going well with you in the country.

Roy, you are right. There are many talented people that would make excellent real estate agents and brokers. Hello, Dolores.

Mary, I used to tell my students to not second guess their answers. Over analyzing a question is always a mistake. Good Points!

Excellent advice, especially for adults who haven't been been a testing environment for some time.

Good tips Mary. It's a bit overwhelming to take tests - expecially with so much weighing on the results. :) I'm sure your advice will come in handy.

Michael, good advice.  Most wrong answers are caused by second guessing.  Do you still teach?

Hi Suzanne, thanks!

Richie, ditto.  Do all the right things and in the end your PASS!!

Rich, I gear my classes toward the adult student who has not been in classroom for awhile.  In some case for a longgggg time.

Thanks for the compliment, Debb. Just yesterday I was almost holding a test taker's hand over the phone before he went into test center.

Wayne & Jean, thanks.  Yes, these tips apply to any stressful event one faces.  Every athlete prepares mentally as well as physically.  Have good day.

Your suggestions are perfect for anyone taking any kind of exam in any state. There are certainly those who have huge anxiety prior to taking any test and maybe doing some of the things you recommend will help calm them down.

Thanks, Toni.  I use this material in my classes and coaching class so I wanted to put in a post, too.

Rebecca, thanks. For so many people test is a four-letter word.  I try to take out the FEAR.  (maybe another post)

Connie, if we were closer your friend could attend my coaching class. Please let her know that a few top sales agents had to take test multiple times.  Being a good test taker does not guarantee success with people. Best of luck to your friend.

Wanda, like you many people have test anxiety.  To them TEST is a four letter word.  My job is to help them pass the test and I start by helping them reduce stress. Thanks for the compliment.

Nina, helping people overcome test anxiety is step #one.  Then we can move into more exciting aspect of real estate field.  It is so nice to meet you here at ActiveRain

Mary, I'm not teaching at the moment. I was teaching Principles, Brokers, Post Licensing and Continuing Education. When the market tanked, the school I worked for cut back on instructors. I just renewed my State Instructors license so I'm leaving my options open.

Michael, good luck getting back into teaching real estate classes.  We have similar backgrounds and have taught many of same classes.  For twenty years I taught classes, managed an office as well as listing and selling.  For last five years teaching has been my only job and I am loving it.

Kudos on renewing your Instructors license.
