traffickingMy daughter is a student at Paul Mitchell and she informed me of a worthwhile campaign the are embarking upon.  Paul Mitchell cosmetology schools are taking a stand for freedom. During “31 Days of Freedom” month, Paul Mitchell students and staff across America will help spread awareness about human trafficking.  Human trafficking is a $32 billion criminal industry.  There are over 21 million people around the world today that are being trafficked, 100,000 of which are right here in the United States.

President Obama is well aware of this situation and has  designated one official per state to handle the crisis.  By signing the 13A Petition, you are asking the president to allocate additional resources to anti-trafficking efforts in the United States. Each Paul Mitchell school hopes to collect at least 1,000 signatures.

Children of all races, ages, and backgrounds are victims of human trafficking.  Those at highest risk are abused children, children with drug addicitons, and runaways.

Did you know:

  • ·      Over 1 million children have been exploited in the global commercial sex trade.
  • ·      Every 2 minutes a child is prepared to be sold.
  • ·      Approximately 55% of the world’s child pornography is produced in America.
  • ·      In the United States, the average age of girls entering prostitution is 12–14.

You can help by casting your vote for freedom by signing Resolution Hope’s “13A Petition to End Slavery in America.” Text your full name and zip code to hopePM@13A.me. Or contact your nearest Paul Mitchell School and ask for their code, to help them reach their goal of 1,000 signatures.

The 13A Petition

Dear President Obama:

I have recently learned about the current situation in the United States with regard to Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking.  As an American, I was appalled to learn that the victimization and sexual exploitation of children has been allowed to grow to unprecedented magnitudes in our country.  America has always been a shining example to the world of freedom, yet we have continued to allow this violation to persist and grow to alarming rates.

I support The National 13A Campaign to end child sexual exploitation and slavery and am asking that you do the same by allocating the Federal resources necessary to bring this horrific epidemic to a swift end.  At midnight on December 31, 2012, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation with the launch of the National 13A Campaign.  This campaign will serve as a vigilant reminder of the promise of freedom to all Americans that the 13th Amendment to our Constitution provides.

I am personally, respectfully asking that you take an active role in this fight and provide Federal funding and resources to:

  1. Lead the Federal initiative to fight this crime and strongly encourage every state to enact policies to ensure safe harbor    provisions and resources for rescued children.
  2. Substantially increase the number of national and local law enforcement task force resources focused on the rescue of     these exploited children and the arrest and conviction of those who buy and sell these sex services.
  3. Provide support for the comprehensive care and restoration of rescued children and adult trafficking victims.

Please join me in supporting our 13th Amendment and help restore the compromised foundation of our country to its Hallmark – “The Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave.”

I have four children of my own and I can't bear the thought of something this horrific happening to one of them.  Please take a stand against human trafficking by signing the 13A Petition.

Jana, what a horrible issue this is with regards to human trafficking.  It goes beyond what my mind can wrap itself around. Kudus to your daughter for her involvement.
