Do you live in Trimble County, Kentucky and want to donate blood? In July 2013 there are a couple of opportunities for you to do so.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 12:00-5:00pm, the Red Cross will be at the Trimble County Middle School gym. This is the school that is close to the Marathon gas station in town just off Hwy. 421.
Signature Health Care off Hwy. 42 (take the road by the huge propane tank across from the new library) will be holding their blood drive on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 2:00-7:00pm.
Tips: Drink a lot of water the day before and the day you go. Eat something with iron it the day before as well. (Red meat is a great source of iron but if you can't eat that, try shrimp, oysters, nuts, liver, squash, dark leafy greens, and even chocolate has some iron in it! Of course, always check with your doctor first on what you should eat or if you should give blood.)
I may go to one of these destinations myself. The Red Cross has stated on Facebook that there is a critical shortage of blood right now. The last time I gave blood was in Orlando at a convention almost a year and a half ago (see photo to the right), and I would love to get back into the groove of giving every eight weeks when possible.
