Things you probably don’t know about my present – Roy Kelley
Our friend in Clarksville, Debbie Reynolds, has challenged ActiveRain bloggers to write about ten things that other bloggers probably do not know about us in the present. The idea is to help us to get to know more about members of the ActiveRain network.
The most important fact about my life is that I married the best wife in the world. Dolores and I celebrated our 48th anniversary this year. Most of the interesting things that I do are done with Dolores.
I love good food and am very lucky that Dolores is an outstanding cook. Together, we enjoy selecting wines that will go well with the dishes she will be serving.
We live in Kentlands, a neo-traditional community, in the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland. I enjoy the convenience of nearby shopping, restaurants and professional offices.
I have two wonderful sisters, Wynne Roos and Lynne Kelley. They are twins that were born when I was a senior in high school. My brother, Curtis, died on July 11th. Dolores and I attended his Celebration of Life event this past weekend in Virginia.
Our parents are no longer alive and we have no children. Dolores has one brother, Fred Bayersdorfer, and I enjoy our visits with him. Fred shares our interests in art history and contemporary art.
Colonial Williamsburg is one of my favorite places to visit. Dolores and I usually spend several weeks each year in Williamsburg. We are annual members of Colonial Williamsburg.
The museums that I visit most frequently are the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Dolores and I are members of the Virginia Museum.
Flower photography is my hobby and my favorite place to visit to photograph flowers is Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. We are annual members and try to attend all of the major exhibits.
My favorite place for photographing flowers in Virginia is Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, in Richmond. I also enjoy the good food in their Garden Café. Dolores and I are annual members.
I enjoy visiting Brookside Gardens in Montgomery County, Maryland. The gardens are beautiful and we like to attend and photograph the flower shows that are held at the Visitor Center.
I like to photograph live butterflies. We recently photographed butterflies at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and plan to photograph butterflies at the Brookside Gardens Wings of Fancy Exhibit.
Winterthur, in Wilmington, Delaware, is another favorite travel destination. Dolores and I are annual members.
I am a Life Member of the University of Virginia Alumni Association and enjoy recalling the good old days at UVA. I have been a member of the Virginia State Bar and a Real Estate Broker for over fifty years.
I have mentioned more than the ten things you probably did not know about me. So, I will have to leave other things for future blogs.
