While reviewing the day's activity on RealBird I noticed something ABSOLUTELY cool.
MyBlogLog.com (a Yahoo! company) added ActiveRain to their list of 3rd party services.
For those of you who are already using MyBlogLog, it is a must have edit: Login, go to your "My Account">"Services" section and enter your ActiveRain username. A link to your ActiveRain profile will start showing up on your MyBlogLog pages instantly. It also reflects on your MyBlogLog "About me" widget.
For those of you who have not been using MyBlogLog yet, here is quick wrap up of what they do (the most important things, among the other cool stuff like visitor tracking, networking etc.):
- MyBlogLog let's you see who visits your website, their picture, their identity (assuming they are MyBlogLog members as well). Visitors are no longer IP numbers only, but real people (except for Fake Steve Jobs). See our right sidebar for recent visitors on this post. There is also a good list of posts on ActiveRain with instructions on how to get started with MyBlogLog. Knowing who visits your post lands the opportunity to engage in conversation and networking.
- MyBLogLog also allows you leave your "foot print" on other people's website. Less emphasized, but a great complimentary feature to 1) is that once you become a member of MyBlogLog, your photo will start showing up on other blogs, assuming that they use the MyBlogLog recent visitors widget as well. This is free self-marketing at it's best. They way you want to know the real people visiting your site or ActiveRain blog (benefit 1 above), the same way bloggers on ActiveRain and other sites will start "checking you out"
In other words: MyBlogLog lets you extend your branding capabilities beyond your own websites and blog. MyBlogLog also aggregates these online identities and eventually this leads to more search engine, networking and one-on-one exposure for you. This service is pretty much the closest you can get to face-to-face business networking in the online sphere.
Congratulation to ActiveRain for being listed as a major 3rd party service provider on Yahoo's MyBlogLog.com. This is good for all of us.
