TICK TICK TICK...Counting the Days til Daylight Savings Time

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty of California, Inc. CA DRE #01490977

Time is marching on as we edge closer to daylight savings time (DST). Remember - spring ahead, fall back? I love having the longer days, but the adjustment in the fall is brutal.

But didja know that DST is NEW this year?

Yep, congress approved the changes and we get 3, that's right 3, additional weeks of DST this year.

In 2007 DST will start on the second Sunday in March (instead of the beginning of April) and it will now end on the first sunday in November (instead of around Halloween).

Curious about the history of DST, who observes it and who doesn't, and other trivia? Read on.

Hi Jeff

Like you I am counting down the clock until the days are longer, and nights are shorter.  It is better for business when we have more daylight hours to show homes after work. I am looking forward to the return of DLST!

I thought they had been talking about doing away with the changing back and forth in the spring and fall?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the information as I did not know or pick up on this. Personally I like it, daylight or dark, I'll probably still be working.

Jeff I don't know if should admit this but I am obsessed with daylight savings time. I can't wait for the year to come when we no longer have to deprive ourselves of one hour each fall. Every evening I smile as the clock registers a later time before it gets dark. Life is good by this time of year we can see the 'light at the end of the tunnel'  I loved your details and now I'm smiling again! :-)

Carole - I feel the same way. I hate the changing back.

Ron - yep, me too.

Danny - that is my understanding. I think this will take time to evaluate the financial costs, etc. You know how the government is...

Allison - agreed. I love having it stay light til almost 9 PM.

Thanks for your comments! I posted this on my other blogs to let readers know.
