Governor Crist Visits Bonita Springs, Fl - Announces Reform For Homeowners

In a visit yesterday to Bonita Springs, Florida Governor Charlie Crist announced his plan for property tax reform.

Doubling the homestead exemption from $25,000 to $50,000 and making the homestead exemption portable for people in the Save Our Homes Program are included in his proposal.  It would take 3/4 of the legislation to agree to the constitutinal ammendment.

This proposal for property tax reform came one week after Crist signed into law a massive property insurance reform.

I will say onething about Crist, he seems more concerned for the people of Florida than Jebby!

The harsh reality is that our state has been in major turmoil for the last 4 years and Jebby was deep in the pockets of every lobbyist group out there!

Marc,

Are you plugging your own post in the comments? :)  Well between these proposals and the insurance rates freeze, I may actually get to have a little extra cash each year to take a vacation.  I am so glad that I am not a first time buyer with the current situations.  It is just too expensive to jump into the market as a FTHB down here in Florida.

Scott.  I just loved the television campaigning that went on.  I watched every commercial very carefully, with my sample ballot on my desk.

Everyone pointed fingers at everyone else claiming "Candidate "X" took funds from big insurance"......but no of the finger pointers EVER said, "But I didn't".  They all have their fingers in the till.

Politicians?

With their hands in the till?

Nah- It'll never happen.

Rebecca,

Have you been talking to Chris?  Has she already corrupted you to the dark side of teasing and tormenting Marc?  If so, good job. :)

After vacationing in your warm state last August (you can have your 100 degrees), I was impressed with Christ's campaign ads.  Looks like he is OK so far.

Check out our new governor.  She pulled off two HUGE upsets to win and so far, we like her.  http://www.adn.com/front/story/8607113p-8499759c.html

I came in to visit Chris and see the kiddies going at it.  What fun!  I don't speak latin though, darn it.  Will someone translate or does BabelFish do latin?

So who has an ETA on the Save Our Homes bill actually getting passed?... I think it would be a great marketing tool for us.  Buy Now! Your equity will allow you to spring into a new home with no money out of pocket and without raising your monthly payments (possibly!)

and as far as Crist vs Jeb... come on! Bush did a lot of great things for the state and went through some tough times... but Crist is NEWLY ELECTED so you can't really compare a politician who is NEW to the office to one that has weathered the storm literally and figuratively...

Crist is and always will be from the Bush cabinet!

David-

If you check the above links you'll see that it will be voted on in November 2008 - now is the time for everybody to fill out the Petitions!
