16 Springfield subdivisions were selected to demonstrate the wide variety of homes that are available to meet the needs of a broad section of the population. One of the main attractions of Springfield is that it projects a genuine sense of a well established, mature community that is not apparent in more recently developed areas.  Since Springfield is not an incorporated town or city, its' services are provided by the Fairfax County form of government.

COMMUTING
Springfield is at the junction of three of the most heavily travelled commuter routes in Northern Virginia, I-95, I-395 and I-495.  EASE OF COMMUTING is one of the many factors that contributes to the popularity of Springfield.  In our 31 years as Realtors my husband and I have witnessed firsthand the tremendous amount of improvement that has been made and continues to be made.  For example, construction will begin pretty soon on HOT LANES on both I-495, I-95 and I-395.

SCHOOLS
Fairfax County is known to have one of the finest public school systems in the country.  It is the 13th largest with a $2.2 billion budget, 85.7% pf which is spent on instructional programs. VIEW STATISTICS.

Many realtors either do not list schools for a particular address or they list an incorrect school in their listing.  I always check SCHOOL LOCATOR

SHOPPING 
Availability of neighborhood shopping facilities is an important consideration when deciding on a home purchase.  There is no question that Springfield has an abundance of shopping centers usually giving homeowners several options convenient to their home.  SEE SHOPPING CENTER LOCATIONS. The national and local chains are well represented as well as local retailers such as FISCHER'S HARDWARE.  We even have a WHOLE FOODS MARKET in The Old Keene Mill Center at Old Keene Mill and Rolling Roads.

PARKS
Similar to our schools, Fairfax County has an excellent park system that strives to protect the environment and, at the same time, provide a county-wide system to maximize the ability of we citizens to enjoy our favorite recreational activities.  Four of the major parks serve the SPRINGFIELD AREA

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES 
One of the very popular annual activities in Springfield is SPRINGFIELD DAYS.  Another active community service organization is the ROTARY CLUB OF WEST SPRINGFIELD
