This morning I realized that I have come to a point where I can say, "I have done what I set out to do this summer".
Those who have followed my blogs here on Activerain the last three months, have seen my efforts to start-up here in Hawaii as a sole proprietor real estate broker. This was an all out effort on my part.
Timing was perfect, because my California brokerage is/was running along smoothly with everything I have put into place there during the past six years.
WHAT HAVE I DONE THE PAST 3 MONTHS FOR MY HAWAII REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE?
Besides getting all the legalities with the State of Hawaii set up, I also joined the Honolulu Board of Realtors and became proficient with their MATRIX system. This is a new system to ALL HBR members, so there were lots of classes to attend to come up to speed. I am delighted with it.
Also took continuing education classes, all to do with the legalities of doing business as a licensed real estate professional here in Hawaii. There are so many new laws being written right now.
Used up a whole lot of shoe-leather WALKING MAJOR NEIGHBORHOODS here in Honolulu to get up to speed with them. Remember, I have lived a major part of my life in Hawaii, but things do change, even within a few months.
Targeted major condominium and townhouse complexes to look at in Honolulu and studied their market trends.
Got up to speed how other agents and agencies work their listings and, specifically, what is the norm here about brokers opens and open houses. There is a standardization of dates and times to do that, that is pretty much run by the HBR.
Activerain, wrote lots and lots of posts about what to do, see, and look for in real estate to buy and sell including market reports for SEO purposes and to acquaint those who read them about me and how I operate.
Lots of photos and videos that shows the ISLAND LIFESTYLE to use on my various marketing efforts.
Started a direct mail campaign, and that will be a continuing effort.
Website for Hawaii, www.HellaHawaii.com - most of it had been done before it was published at the beginning of the summer, but did add some features including activating the IDX and BLOG features. GOOGLE ANALYTICS tells me how I do every day, and my stats are rising appreciably.
THE RESULTS SO FAR?
I can't be happier. Am working with several clients right now, one is even someone from Hawaii who wants to purchase a property in California - where I am also licensed as a real estate broker and have my brokerage in Northern California, www.HellaRothwell.com and www.93921.com

One thing I have found out, everything takes a little longer than anticipated, especially if it includes "officialdom". But in the meantime:
