For all you homebuyers and sellers out there, well I've got a treat for you! As George Johnson, who is thought to be the oldest, I mean, wisest man in Real Estate gives advice to us new comers in this business. "I've been through a lot of ups and downs" he says to MSN Real Estate, reminiscing on the Real Estate boom after the 2nd World War and downturn that followed after Boeing layed-off thousands of it employees.
From it all he has gained a lot of experience stating that "after every recession, the market has gone up higher than before. You need to have the guts and dedication to survive the twists and turns. Here are some lessons he has learned off his years in Real Estate.
Don't be greedy! He blames plain greed as the culprit of the recent downturn of the economy. "Everyone was out to buy a house, raise the price, and double it to earn a quick buck", he says. He added that people were buying stuff they know they couldn't afford and of course, the banks helped them. "You've got to be able to hang onto a house until conditions are such that you can make a little money". He stressed that every homebuyers should give an honest assessment of themselves on their financial potential and should know if offers are "too good to be true".
Wisest man in Real Estate gives advice that timing is everything. He says that every young person that hasn't bought a house yet, needs to buy now. He explained that a buyers market doesn't come around often.
If you don't need to sell, wait for a little while. He explains that unfortunately now is not a seller's market. If you don't need to don't it.... yet.
He added that aside from the struggles of the housing market, he believes that the worst is done. There's now way to go but up now.
