Remembering

Remembering where I was at today - 12 years ago today - has  been running through my mind quite a bit. I remember getting a phone call from our roommates brother who worked at the Pentagon letting us know that he was okay but could not find his wife who worked in a part of the Pentagon that was near where the plane hit. He was then heading over to assist with first aid and getting people out of the building. Thankfully as we were ending the call, he ran into his wife who was looking for him while assisting others in the area.

I remember a couple of hours later being at work watching the horrors of the Twin Towers play over and over. Then hearing the announcement that the company would be closing for the day for the employees to go home to their families to be near them in this time of need for our country. Before ushering out my 13 employees, we stopped and said a quick prayer together for the nation and the families who were directly affected by the act of terrorism that took place.

I remember waiting for a call from my best friend who's brother worked in the North Tower in NYC to see if he was ok, injured or possibly one of the people who lost their lives. Thankfully he had a doctor appointment that morning and was not at work at the time.

I am thankful that the people I directly knew were ok but felt horrible for the friends and families of those who parished that day.

Remembering is something that I will be doing today, as I am sure most others will too.  There are many memorials today honoring those who gave all for their country. Participate in one in your area to show support.
