A House Built with Love ~ My Home
We built our home back in 1989. I knew nothing about building back then or real estate for that matter. I went forward with passion and determination, just like everyone else at that time, trying to design and choose all the details that are the fun part of building. I did not have the internet nor the advice of a real estate agent. We worked with an architect and a builder. Together we built a house that became our home.
While our home is probably too big and too contemporary for my taste these days, my home has a special place in my heart. It is where my family and I grew up together sharing our joys and sorrows. A house becomes a home the day you are given keys and lay down on the bed for the first time. It becomes a part of your life and a place to come home to at the end of the day.
I raised two daughters with my husband enjoying our house, our home for the last 20+ years.
As if that wasn't enough, we opened our hearts and our home to a little pup named Quinn when my girls were still young and living at home. As my girls moved out, my little toddler pup with the furry white tail stayed behind to keep our lives glued together with a sense of home that only a Westie can bring. He kept the empty nest from feeling quite so empty. My girls could tell you many stories all about Quinn, and how the house was really his. An adorable friend and family member, he was the favorite. He never had to make his bed, or take out the trash, or wash the dishes or anything but look cute. That made him the favorite with special consideration on any and all occasions. He was rewarded for doing absolutely nothing with cookies every day. That made him the favorite.
Quinn is gone and our girls live a bit too far away these days. We continue to make new memories, just the two of us. When it comes time for us to sell we will find another house to enjoy. A place to call home. I expect that when we do there will be a new puppy that will make the transition with us. One that will steal our hearts and he/she too will be the favorite, turning that house into my new home.
