What I learned in Real Estate this week........................

What I learned in Real Estate this week.........

It's been some time.....I'm still learning but I haven't been reporting! I figured it was time to change that, SO, here's what I have learned!

  • Appraisals take time, you must be patient.
  • If you are going to be showing all day make sure you have more than one donut in the morning before heading out.
  • Phone chargers: have them everywhere, buy multiple ones for emergencies & to plug in if you find yourself standing in a place with electricity.
  • If you are doing an open house in an empty house, bring yourself a chair unless you plan on having a steady stream of traffic.
  • Opportunities are everywhere, wear your name badge, talk to people & ask questions.
  • When it comes to short sales, some banks work WAY quicker than others.
  • Some people who have their home for sale might not be sold on selling it!

AND, the most important bit of info I learned this week:

NO matter how many different ways you try to tell someone something, they still might not get it.  Find another way to communicate & get your point across.  Everyone learns differently, everyone listens differently & some just don't listen.  Figure out how to get your message across to them.

Kristin - I had to chuckle, because you reminded me of a day when I thought those two stale cookies in the glove box had saved my life.

Nice list, Kristin. An open house can be l-o-o-o-n-g if there's nowhere to sit for 3 hours!

I like the idea of what we learn instead of the challenges we faced. Great serious face! :)

I can't even tell you how many times that granola bar I keep in my purse for emergencies came to the rescue:)

Good observations:)  I had a mentor tell me "you can't say the wrong thing to the right person, or the right thing to the wrong person."  Take care.

Kristin:

Good tips, especially your advice to have a good solid meal before showing multiple properties.  Nothing makes me less agreeable than going with out food.  I become a bear.

Don't forget that a charged-up backup battery is even better than finding an outlet! (unless you have a iPhone, sorry about that!)

For most popular smartphone, you can purchase a new matching brand name battery for under $20 on amazon.com

Your comment about some sellers not actually being motivated to sell their homes hit home, so to speak.

Great tips for all of us salespeople. The bottom line I got out of it was to be PREPARED. Eat a good breakfast and have a backup energy bar. The name badge is a very important piece.

Thanks for sharing!! Oh, one thing I learned about scheduling open houses : Don't schedule open houses on a Sunday when the Houston Texans are playing." Low to no turnout!
