I Remain Conflicted About Dressing Up Our Pets For Halloween
I know they are adorable just like all the little kids. I just can't help but wonder if our pets had a say in the matter, would they be willing participants?
I watched my son dress his dog, Molly. She had no issue wearing the pants and the top to her Pirate costume .... but when the head band that creates the hat went on, Molly immediately tried to remove it with her paw. Clearly she did not like it.
However, she is such a good and obedient dog, when my son said, "Molly, leave it alone" she stopped trying to paw it off of her head. She was also rewarded with some treats which distracted her to the point of seemingly forgetting about that "thing on her head."
I've seen some posts here in the rain with pets dressed in completely adorable costumes. I've even seen a post with horses dressed in costumes.
My veterinarian has a "best Halloween consume contest" every year.
I get it, Halloween is a time for costumes. I just can't help but wonder if our pets had a say in the matter, would they be willing participants?
There is no judgment here on anyone who dresses their pets for Halloween or any other time. Heck, my son dressed his beloved pet in a costume. To each their own. I am not judging my son for doing it. Clearly the pets are not being harmed in any way. I just don't feel it is something I would do.
How do you feel about dressing our pets for Halloween? Would you want your pet to wear something they clearly are annoyed by wearing?
Wishing Everyone (and their pets) a Happy, Safe and Fun Halloween.
May every moment of the day be filled with laughter and joy.
