Myrl, Wow, what a beautiful photograph, and a beautiful thought to go with it... unfortunately these days solitude seems like a luxury. The boat in the photograph reminds me of a 25" sloop my husband and I owned when we were first married, we named her "The Answer". She was our place of solitude and there are many days when I wish I could retreat to her again.

Kathy - That's a really good question!  It seems the more hooked/dependant we become on our gadgets, the less truly alone time we actually have.

Nancy - Solitude is a luxury.  I remember a line from an ole movie, "Office Space."  A character works for a technology company, and is confronting overwhelming life situations.  When a co-worker asked him what he'd like to do in life.  He replied that he'd like to do absolutely nothing.  I often think we measure success in the amount of consumerism we can participate in, while simpler things of value are overlooked!

What a gorgeous hot, and I love the thought.  I agree that solitude is a luxury, what is wonderful about my relationship with Ron is that we can co-exist with each other's solitude.  There are many hours in the day when we don't speak, just go about being or doing what we need to do, we are fully focused and yet there is the subtle comfort of being together.  I think that is why we both love the beach so much.  A

I am trying, of course, to figure out where you shot that photo, Myrl. My first thought was Lake Tahoe, but then no. I can't recall a ridgeline like that. So where is it?

Endre - Alone time is becoming more and more a precious commodity!

Elizabeth - Yes, it's at Lake Tahoe.  There is a spot along the road which is a little higher elevation.  It's before you get to the casinos.
