Mushrooms can we say tasty?

I posted the other day about the FDA and some rules they have.  For the next few days I'll keep that momentum going so why not start with mushrooms?

I want this to be information one just usually doesn’t hear.  If you have I would like to know if you haven’t all the better you’ve learned something today.  With that being said here is the information for you to consider today.

The FDA has guidelines for the amount of “filth” your food is allowed to contain, including insects, hair and parasites! Some of this is unavoidable – nature just isn’t sterile. But after reading this list, who would have thought Hot Dogs sound clean? Maybe next time you’ll think twice about grabbing a handful of jelly beans when walking through the office.

Fresh is always better than canned. The plastic lining of those cans contain BPA, a chemical linked to heart attacks, obesity and cancers. Canned mushrooms have an extra surprise.

The FDA allows 19 maggots and 74 mites in every 3.5 ounce can of mushrooms. YUM! While maggots won’t hurt you, they aren’t very appetizing. Choose fresh mushrooms instead, and wash them.

Now go out and tell the world of your new found knowledge.  Smile it will make people wonder what you’ve been up to.  Join us tomorrow for another journey into the wonderful world of Wordsmith.  Click on the link below.  Who knows you may learn something along the way and some of the words may even bring a smile to your face.   Wise Custom Realty is hiring in AR., PA., MO., CO., and OK. call me for details.

I buy fresh mushrooms often.  The instructions say to brush them and do not wash them.

HA!

I WASH THEM.

They are full of protein (maggots) and other things I'd rather not think about.  The thing is that is your government at work for you.

James, if it is government work it is bound to be flawed! Do these people think before they act? I think not. Enjoy your day!

Good morning James. I could have done without this. Frankly, I have lost my appetite and I haven't had breakfast yet.

On a visit to China mushrooms are a staple, had telling what their guidlines are. I think I'll stick with to only fresh mushrooms. I wonder if the inspectors eat them?

Good morning James,

And the original tin had a ton of lead; fresh is alway's best but some people have no idea how to cook.

Make yourself a great day.

Hi James,

If everyone knew exactly what the FDA allows in foods. They would only grow all their food, never store bought foods.

Have a great day in Rogers my friend.

Best, Clint McKie

My wife received a tip for grocery shopping: Only shop the perimeter of the store. Next time you go into your local grocery store, take a lap around the perimeter and see how much better the food is for you rather than going up and down the isles.

James,

Yikes, and I knew that, thanks to my mother who was the head research librarian for RJR Nabisco...you would not believe what some popular foods contain...That is why we buy organic 90%of the time, and we buy jars rather than cans, although the Europeans don't do what we do to cans, so Italian tuna is also what I buy. I'm with Lenn, I know you are not supposed to wash mushrooms, but I do. People touch them!! And I pull out their nasty little stems, too, and eat only the button part. Meahhahahhaha.
