I've written many posts over the years about being Thankful. Thanksgiving is a special time for my family because 21 years ago we almost didn't have thanksgiving... if not for the kindness of friends and strangers. But I really don't want to talk about the year of the tornado... I want to talk about this year and what I am thankful for in 2013. There are so many, so I'm going to stick with the top ten
- My faith. I'm thankful that I know my Lord and Savior and can get through the most difficult of times. It seems like my family can't make it around the calendar with experiencing a sudden loss of a family member at an age that seems much too soon to leave this life. In loosing my young cousin Ryan this year I was devastated, but my faith allows me to know he is with the Lord and I will see him again. I love you Ryan, I miss you.
- Health. Not mine really, although I'm healthy too, but I'm thankful for my parents good health. This time next year both my parents will be in their 70s. And while they do have to check their calendar for doctor appointments to make plans... they are still in good health and I'm so thankful for this.
- Love. My Donald is a true blessing in my life. I never ever have to wonder if he loves me because I know. We tell each other ever single day. And every night when we snuggle on the sofa I feel blessed and loved.
- Family. I'm thankful that my daughter made it through those traumatic teenage years without me killing her and grew up to be the beautiful responsible young woman she is. I do have to admit I'm really looking forward to her having a teenager one day. I'm thankful for my brother, my in-laws, all my aunts and uncles and cousins. Those I see and talk to and those I just keep up with on Facebook. I love all of you and am Thankful to have you in my life. (If I started naming my relatives it would take too long, trust me on this)
- My agents. I hired some new agents this year and I'm thankful for them. And for those who have been here with me for years. Even in the slowest of years they stuck with me and toughed it out until the market got a little better. We're family.
- My furry family. For many moons I was a dedicated "cat" lady. I have had a cat since I was a girl, but until Donald insisted we get a puppy I had no idea how much a person could love a dog. I can't imagine life before Glen and Laney and even my grand-dog Lexi (even though she is very high maintenance)
- Our clients. My office really does get the best clients. Not just those I work with personally, but also those my agents work with as well. I'm not sure how it happens, but seem to have folks who understand and appreciate our efforts about 99% of the time.
- Friends. I have the best friends. Every day I have dozen of folks I can depend on to pull me from the path toward depression and make me laugh until I have tears running down my face. I've truly needed them this year (see #1)
- Vendors. Those loan officers and closing attorneys and appraisers and surveyors and tree guys and electricians... all those folks that I recommend and partner with in this business I am thankful for ever day. The folks who work in public service at my court house and at Georgia power who are always willing to try to accommodate my clients, I appreciate your dedication and I'm thankful for your work ethic.
- My daughter's work family. If this seems an odd thing for me to be thankful for I understand. But when my daughter goes to work every third day as a paramedic her very life can be in jeopardy. I have learned how much her "work family" cares about her over the past two years and I'm so very thankful for them. They take care of her at times when I cannot. Recently a patient tried to break her arm and her partner was right there to stop it.
I'm sure you can relate to most of what I'm thankful for this year in your own life. What are you most Thankful for? What will you be celebrating being Thankful for on Thursdaly?
