Thanksgiving Day-November 28, 2013. Fifteen Thousand Runners swarmed along Main Street in Manchester, CT., 06040 to participate in Manchester Road Race's 77th year.
It was 32 degrees Fahrenheit but the temperature did not stop the throngs of people from different ages to witness the annual tradition.
There were also special and cute GUESTS which did not mind the commotion going on.
The spectators were anxiously waiting for the runners to show up and finish the 4.78 mile-length course. The crowd's excitement loomed when the first and second participants in the wheel chair division navigated from Center Street towards the finish line.
Cheers grew stronger as the first place winner passed by like Flash Gordon that my camera lens barely caught him in action.
Then the second place runner came dashing after approximately 20 seconds.
Then the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eight were only few seconds behind each other.
From Main Street, we moved to Center Street to see the onslaught of oncoming runners.
After almost an hour in the cold, my hands were getting numb and sore and decided to head home.
I ran as fast as I could to cross the street to avoid disrupting the rhythm and fashion of hundreds of pounding legs in sight on their way to the finish line.
My last shot was this one :). Home Buyers Realty in the background.
Manchester Road Race is an event you should not miss.
As a spectator, the jovial spirit was uplifting.
What a terrific day to kick off the Thanksgiving Day. By the way, I got free hot cocoa courtesy of Salvation Army on Main Street, Manchester, CT.,06040.
