Knitting Again.....Becoming A True Grandmother!

It is pretty amazing that for the last 27 years, I have not picked up knitting needles. The last time I knit anything, my own children were young and we lived in Germany. I learned to knit from my mother-in-law. She could knit anything. So when my daughter asked me to teach her to knit, I was thrilled!

This photo is of the scarf that I just completed for Corinna. I also made one in the same purple color for my little granddaughter and am now working on a scarf for my son.

Knitting has brought back a lot of forgotten memories. They seem to have flooded back. As I knit, I remember scenes, scents and events that happened in Europe that I had totally forgotten. At this time of year, it brings many tears with it. My mother-in-law is no longer with us and I am happy to pass this skill that she taught me on to my own daughter. It is making Christmas extremely special!

Oh how lovely! What a sweet blessing for your grandchild - and future generations to come. I only learned crocheting which I taught to my kids years ago and some to my granddaughters. Their other grandma is much better at it so she took what I started and has built on it and between the two of us, they are doing grand! One of my daughters did learn to knit from her adopted grandma (one of our sweet neighbors). She is awesome at it and has passed some on to her boys.
