Yes, that hot water can destroy the light-weight concrete
I probably wouldn’t have believed it until I saw it myself many years ago, but a long tern hot water leak can actually turn light-weight concrete into a slurry mess over time. The hot water breaks down the solid concrete into its unharned form and will not harden again.
Remember that the next time there is a small leak in an apartment unit.

Me too Clint. I've seem this situation before left to the point where the concrete was mush, the wood rotted and the water heater sinking into the floor - hanging from the flexible water lines.
Long term water leaks can damage anything. I didn't realize that hot water would cause additional damage.
I've never seen that before Tom. That's a good reason why you need to fix leaks ASAP.
