Book Review "The One Thing"

Book Review "The One Thing The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary The One ThingResults" My apologies for not writing book reviews for a while now, I made a promise to myself a couple years ago that I would review a couple books every month and although I still try to read   2-3 books a month I have been neglecting my reviews. I can't think of a better book to get back on track than this one.

I would imagine that most of the real estate world is aware of Gary Keller and his incredible success with Keller Williams, and many of you also know that he is brilliant leader and gifted author, I have personally read at least a half dozen of his books and have culled a lot of knowledge from them, but I had a real "aha" moment when I read "The One Thing" which is written by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.

It is all about focus and not trying to be all things to all people, or trying to please everyone and the great leaders all get this, and to some degree I think we all understand this but we are to afraid to let go of the trapeze and trust that what we are really seeking is the best for us. I have been teaching a class for the past couple years called "The Riches are in the Niches" and have personally seen agents business swell when they get focused on one thing instead of many, but "The One Thing" really explains why this works and how to make it work for you.

I started my class because I saw that the best at any profession did not try to please everyone, they found a very focused market, they did what they do best and attracted people to them, the type of people they would most likely want to work with and because they were extremely focused they became the expert and really enjoyed what they were doing.

Why should your career be any different, find your One Thing, focus on it, you will excel at a much faster rate than those around you that are trying to please the masses.

This book is not just for real estate professionals but for everyone and I am giving it a $$$$$ rating.

I rate books with a $-$$$$$ rating based on how valuable the book is to my business and how valuable I feel it is to the audience.

  • $$$$$ means that the book is a must have for any library and a good book to refer to anytime you need sound advice
  • $$$$- means that the book is very good and worth reading
  • $$$- means there may be a few nuggets of information, and if you can’t find something else to do go ahead and read this book
  • $$- do not waste your time
  • $- I am sorry I wasted my time and be thankful you saw this book review before wasting yours
