By
Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

Real estate question of the day, what would you do if asked by a brand new, wet behind the ears, very green agent is the most important thing to remember?

To act as a mentor, teacher, passing along something you were taught by another in the business. Or learned the hard way. Through the trial and error. Tested by out in the field, feet to the fire method of crawling around, down in the real estate trenches?

What is the one thing if all of us on the Active Rain maine small farm horse photoplatform were entrusted with the job of building the best real estate agent, from the ground up.

And one by one all helping chisel, shape, mold the well rounded, take it to the top, make it do or die.

This one for the gipper real estate agent.

Who has just ventured out, is in the very beginning stages. About to push off, start his/her career in the wild, wonderful world of matchmaking real estate buyers and sellers.

What does he or she need to know, absolutely need to remember above all else? Give critically needed advice. To team, train, harness, push in the right direction. To navigate this new to the list, market, sell real estate industry recruit.

Weigh in, keep it short, sweet, simple and leave your two cents for the pot luck covered dish of real estate knowledge. For others to chime in, add to, feast on and everyone benefits.

This is a real estate blog post where the substance is like an iceberg. Down below in the comment section, written by the folks who stop in, pull back the canvas to the tent and hit, run, after leaving the real estate tip.

Andy: If I could tell a new agent one thing it would be...Stay true to your morals and beliefs and always treat your clients with dignity and respect.

See It. Experience It. Live It.

For this question, I'm assuming we've got a person that is already a person of integrity.  To succeed in this business you have to know how to prospect.

Anita ... Got it, must have morals, values, and treat customer way you would want if other way around, on the other end of the real estate up and down teeter totter. Got it.

Sondra ... Yes, for this exercise, installment of what does it take for to be a better agent, the guy or gal is top notch, blue ribbon and no snakes allowed. Dig in for prospecting... to farm for listings, to round up and herd the buyers. Well put. Good points.

There are many things a brand new agent needs to learn to succeed.  I would add to this list that they need to have a financial class and learn how to budget.

I would tell them to make sure, every day, 7 days a week,  to do one thing to promote, prospect, get your name out there...Even if it's just leaving your business card with the tip at the diner/restaurant or an email with your signature' attached...And on that note, when using email for business don't use a generic yahoo, gmail account...If your affiliated with a franchise they all have corporate email accounts with their name attached that they've spent lots of money promoting...It's free too.

Brenda ... Congress could take a lesson on this and spending. Real estate is first and foremost a business. Check. Got it.

Ernie ... make sure they know you are Mr or Ms, Miss, Mrs Real Estate and large and in charge looking for listings, ready to roll up the sleeves and get everyone to the closing on time. Circulate, stay in the corner, front, everywhere in their vision with your marketing having some frequency, reach. Super. Duly noted.

I agree with Sondra, if the person doesn't have a basic moral code, it really doesn't matter what you tell them, they will always do it their way.

Good Morning Andrew: The formative days in real estate would require enormous persistence, determination and patience. These are the requirement throughout the entire career but most especially during the beginning.

Well... if politicians can't get it right to lead the country, how could this task be completed. I think it all begins with strong, mentally capable, honest leaders with integrity.
