I held an open house in Livermore, CA today. Agents do this for a number of reasons.
- To give exposure to a listing they are selling, especially if showing capabilities are limited. (Think young children, day sleeper, pets, tenants).
- To get first hand feedback from potential buyers about desirability, pricing, condition to then share with the sellers.
- To meet new buyer clients, even if not for this particular home.
- To meet other potential sellers.
It’s not always because they are looking to buy a home in the Tri Valley!
- Assessing potential competition.
- Seeing where prices are going in their own neighborhood.
- Potential buyers, taking a second look.
- Keeping an eye out for a family member.
-
Comparing amenities and updates to homes like theirs to get ideas.
-
Just like to look at houses – it’s a pastime.
- Initial assessment - what do homes look like and cost in an area.
-
Snooping. Don’t want to ask their friends or relatives what houses in the neighborhood cost.
- Agents, previewing for clients.
And of course, those bona fide home buyers. Sellers and agents alike enjoy seeing them stop by.
