What I learned in RE this week…the "I've been gone too long" edition

Real Estate is about relationships, right? Offline & online, eh?  I've struggled with the online part recently in balancing my little part of the world.

It happens, meetings, family, fun, working, learning, earning, vacations, FUN! Stuff get's WACKY & life in general get's in the way, RIGHT? I'm not alone here, RIGHT? I know, I know.

Anyway, we live & we LEARN which is the topic of this blog post my friends! What I learned in Real Estate this WEEK:

  • St. Joseph WORKS! When in doubt, go to Amazon.com, buy him, plant him & WAIT for the buyers.  If you plant him, they will come.  Promise!
  • Protect your family members in some sort of fashion if they live in your home but aren't on the deed.
  • Sellers choose what they want to hear.
  • Your family member who sold Real Estate for 40 years is willing & able to assist you when you need assistance at one of your listings to fill the hot tub before the inspector shows up, call them.  (I love you DAD!)
  • All buyers don't wear cotton.
  • The most seasoned of agents can ignite a fire within themselves & others!
  • Asbestos is a witch that starts with a B.
  • Cats can wreak havoc on a home, get a dog.
  • People are misunderstood everyday, chat with them a bit & figure out where they are coming from.  It most certainly could be from a different place than you think!
  • Appraisers are amazing.
  • ^^^^^^THAT was sarcasm.

Agree! Just as you said that sellers choose what they want to hear, I learned this week that buyers do as well!

This business is fascinating...from the unusual stuff we deal with everyday to the evolving technology which challenges us so that the business doesn't get 'stale'. Fun post!

Real estate can be a wild and wacky world, at times. I agree people are misunderstood and you have a nice way of saying chat with them.

Every day is an adventure in this business. Buyers and sellers can often get so creative and at times challenge us for their logic. Have a great day

I too have had luck with St. Joseph statues & have got funny stories to boot. I did a post a few years ago on the 'how too' because I found everyone was doing it wrong.

Agree with your cats vs. dog rationale.

Disagree about Appraisers.

I have heard of the Saint Joseph's statue.  Do you have to be Catholic?  I am sorry but call me a sceptic.

There is never a dull moment in our industry. One gets up in the morning and thinks one is going to achieve A, B and C and end the day having delt with X, Y and D never even getting close to what one thought was possible in the morning.

Some days it is a challenge just to breath.

Sounds like a good week, The more things you learn the more transactions you must be having to encounter them. So keep going.

I learned last week that buyers celebrating prematurely may show up a bit tipsy and unannounced. Fortunately the seller was a kind person.  A new one for me after 10 yrs. in the business.

Hi Kristin ~ enjoyed your post. We once followed the Italian custom of burying the statue of St Joseph, however, we never found it to dig up after the sale even though we knew the exact spot it was buried:)
