Hi Lisa,

We have a lot of hummers here in California and many just stay for the winter as it is normally not so harsh as other parts of the county. This year I moved so I see fewer but it is colder up here. I love to hear them buzzing around just being so busy.

I am planning to get one of those hummingbird feeders like you have this year. Your area will have to warm up a little more before they arrive. Probably hanging out in CA, TX and NM right now waiting for the warm weather.

Lovely photos Kristin. My favorites are the hummingbirds. We don't use feeders, but grow monarda, lemon balm, liatris and honeysuckle for them. They visit daily in the early morning and late afternoon. Glad to hear the weather has cleared in your area

Mine too but I just love to see the feathers and feet on the other birds too. They are just so cute and amazing but love to hear the hummers buz around. Wow, those sound like great plants. I have honeysuckle but maybe will try the others you mention here. Thanks.

Hi Kristin, The birds are really abundant around here, I saw something today that I have never seen before. On one of the Hummer feeders there were 6 on the ring around it but there are only 4 feeding holes. I didn't bother with a photo but they sure are eating a lot. Having to fill the feeders every night when I get home. They seem to be getting up when I do around 5:00/5:30 and they are really hungry after awakening. I confess that I just can't get enough of watching them. I am allowed now to be up very close to the feeders and I am just in awe.

Hi Silvia,

I adore water birds and raptor birds but backyard birds are so sweet and need us to supplement their food. I just moved and I worry about the backyard birds I left behind. I had been feeding them for about 5 years and I am sure they are wondering why there is no more food. I left the feeders so maybe they will fill them.
