Seduced By The Written Word
Why I blog about real estate and my community? I blog because I love to write, I love to share information and I love real estate. This post, “Seduced By The Written Word” written by fellow activerain blogger Ed Silva explains my position, beyond just love and passion.
Leveling the playing field through local knowledge. Bigger isn’t always better. Sometimes, infact I believe, the best way to choose an agent is by getting to know them. If they don’t have time for a conversation or a cup of coffee, where will you be if something goes awry?

I was chatting recently with another blogger about the advantages and positives obtained from blogging. The thought was that nothing seems to generate action and establish credibility as an authority than being consistent with our blog posts.
People will immediately begin an Internet search whenever there a question about anything. We have all done it as the amount of information available online is staggering and within milliseconds answers flow.
It is for this very reason that we offer up consistent blog posts to generate activity for our businesses. We hear it repeatedly from potential clients that they found us because of the posts we put online about homes for sale in certain neighborhoods. We can also get attention for posts about those neighborhoods and the services available in those neighborhoods. The relationship is started and the information we present confirms our position as the local experts. While there may be others working the same area, none have obtained that online presence that defines them as having that local expertise.
Blogging can be the most effective way of establishing credibility for ourselves. Demonstrated repeatedly by the homes we post as being available for sale, or the buyers we have helped to make that special purchase. Even the market statistics we post show knowledge of the areas and allow sellers and buyers to get a brief synopsis of activity not readily available elsewhere.
Market statistics are generated by actual real estate activity and when we post statistics, we post from the only true source of that information which is the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Syndicators, such as Z &T, don’t have this available to them and their sources are only the town records available online.
Our blogging efforts set a playing field that is equal to all. While some larger brand brokerages can claim a large number of agents, ove we place our information online, we are competing as equals.
Once a blogger develops an online style and understands how to make that blog attractive to the search engines they can overtake the largest of agencies and be the person to challenge for position. With enough posts they can easily rise to the top of a search page and if there are enough entries by that writer, they have managed to dominate the market and the seduction is complete.
