Valiente Wins Piaget USPA Gold Cup
The Valiente team (Bob Jornayvaz, Santi Torres, Sapo Caset and Adolfo Cambiaso) won the 2014 USPA Piaget Gold Cup championship on March 23 over the Alegria team (Julian Mannix, Clemente Zavaleta, Mariano Aguerre and Hilario Ulloa) at the International Polo Club.
Caset made the opening and the final goal of the first chukker while Alegria's Zavaleta scored once, 2-1.
Zavaleta tied it up to 2-2 on the second chukker but Caset managed to gave the lead back to Valiente, ending the chukker with 3-2.
The first half has ended with Valiente taking a 7-3 advantage over Alegria.
Alegria tried to cut the lead into 7-5 as Aguerre scored two goals in the opening minutes of the fourth chukker. Valiente responded in kind, 9-5.
In the fifth chukker, the two teams ended with a tie score of 9-9.
In the final chukker, another penalty goal from Caset was all they needed as they hold on to the 11-10 victory.
Caset was named MVP while Bob Jornayvaz's Pipi took the BPP honors.
Meanwhile, Crab Orchard (Kerstie Allen, Facundo Pieres, Magoo Laprida and Inaki Laprida) took the Butler Handicap Subsidiary against Coca-Cola (Gillian Johnston, Sebastian Merlos, Julio Arellano and Facundo Obregon) with Inaki Laprida as the BPP and Facundo Pieres' Norma named as the BPP.
