Sometimes we let our relationships, whether they be business or personal, perk along on autopilot with only the occasional "drip" of attention. It's always easy to find an excuse for our moments or months of neglect. Personally, I think I have a long list of plausible reasons I've neglected my business family at Active Rain. The first being I left my "Big Box" franchise real estate office and opened up a brand new start-up, Charlemagne International Properties, on January 1, 2014.
Suddenly there were not enough hours in the day to make it through the ever-expanding list of things to do. It was easy to cutback on all aspects of blogging while we overhauled every blog and website to reflect our new independent status. Thankfully, there were offers to write and listings to take while we made the changeover. It was both an exhausting and exhilarating first quarter of 2014. As a side note, two new grand-babies arrived in April and in January I spent three weeks exploring the wilds of Africa.
Life was running along in the first lane but this week I received a wake-up call. A financial institution specializing in high-net worth individuals extended an opportunity to be their referral partner for my area of Los Angeles. Nice.
Here's a good reason to never make assumptions. I assumed they found me via a satisfied client or our outstanding WP website. Nope, it was Active Rain and my linked outside blog, Palos Verdes Lifestyle.
So while I may be very busy building a new company, I am reminded Active Rain continues to reward me for my blogging efforts that began in 2007. What is that saying about friends--make new ones, but keep the old, for one is silver, the other gold. Active Rain continues to present me with golden opportunities. If you're shooting for the stars with your business, don't forget to make Active Rain a part of the plan.
I'm back!
