Recently, I asked for friends to review my website...(because yesterday I didn't know what a webmaster was...today I ARE ONE!!)  A comment that came from my brother was about "Branding".  He stated that he saw me shorten my business name to initials only in places throughout the site and that he thought this was a wasted opportunity to remind my customers of my company name.  I was impressed with this as constructive advice that seemed so obvious I was embarrassed I hadn't caught it myself.  What is it about being too close to the project?  I confess that my website is not the finest I have seen, but given the budget constraints of a slow cycle, I think it's not half bad...Here's the change I made:

Shannon,  I don't know how many times I let someone proof read my stuff and they find mistakes.  Or I read my blog after someone makes a comment and I find an error.  I guess it happens to us all.

That is good advice. I often find myself substituting initials for my websites full name. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to be more careful.

A website is a work in progress and labor of love.  There is a saying we have here at needAnotary; a mistake is only a mistake when and unless you refuse to correct it.  When you find a mistake or something that gets in the way of the customer's experience, fix it quick.

Sometimes your excited and in crank mode and stuff kind of slip through a crack, but when you find it or when someone brings it to your attention, just excerpt some elbow grease and make it happen to improve the experience for your customer or add consistency to establishing your brand.
