I had to stop and take a photo. The irony of this is downright funny!

I doubt that ice has formed on the roadway known in Tucson, AZ as Gates Pass Road, at least not since the Jurassic era. Maybe not even then.

But there it is. A sign (not one that folds closed, either) warning you to Watch For Ice.\

But look down there to the right. See the fire hydrant? That's the funny part.

Because of the high summer temperatures, kids have been known to crack the hydrant to soak themselves in a cooling spray of water.

Pima County has a sign for that too--right next to the permanent sign warning you to Watch for Ice!

DON'T STEAL THE WATER!

The Pima County Department of Transportation does a great job most of the time. We don't have many potholes, road signs get replaced when idiots shoot holes in them, things generally are better than in many places I've travelled.

This, though, is overkill. Belt and Suspenders!

Mike: funny post. Someone is seriously "out there". We have our own problems in Florida where we have problems knowing how to and when to vote and in both states they should protect their heads from the sun.Hilarious sign!

Mike, I thought that perhaps due to Tucson's proximity to Mexico, the sign is talking about another type of ICE -- Immigrations and Customs Enforcement...

Hey Mike, do they replace the signs with bullet holes now? They used to just get rusty and look really ugly. I will say that in the olden days when I lived there (when it used to be cooler there than here) there were times when there was ice on the road. I hit it a time or two and it scared the something out of me.

I guess I should say that the ugly rusty signs were out in the boonies, you know, out on Cortaro or Tangerine Rd. Yes that was a long time ago, I move away around 25 yrs ago. We lived in Oro Valley before it was Oro Valley and before that we live at the eastern edge of town at 22nd and Wilmot.
