I'll be lunching at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes today with a client, or is she a friend? Maybe we need a new word to describe the clients who move from business circle to social circle and blur the lines of where work ends and personal time begins. I think "cliend" might work. Or perhaps we keep it simple and just call it life.
A reveiw of any given day will reveal the blending of work life with personal life for me. The unstructured day of a real estate professional will often have gaps between appointments, or even simply needed computer relief. I use those moments to dash out to complete an errand, email or call a friend, have the car washed and sneak in a manicure. I'm on my own clock and yes, I write personal emails during business hours. I prefer to do my grocery and clothing shopping while the rest of the working world adheres to business hours.
On the other hand, you may find me writing an offer at 8:00 PM and blogging about Palos Verdes and the South Bay of Los Angeles real estate market at 5:00 AM. Saturday and Sunday are often the busiest days of the week with open houses, showing property and meeting with clients who work those "normal" hours.
The real estate life is a perfect fit for me.
