When and how to license your dog or cat in the City of Gaithersburg

When your puppy or kitten reaches the age of four months, it is time to get them vaccinated and licensed. The City of Gaithersburg requires a current rabies vaccination and an annual pet license for all dogs and cats over the age of 4 months. The annual licensing fee of $35 is reduced to $10 with proof of spaying or neutering.

The fine for an unvaccinated pet is $250.

The fine for an unlicensed pet is $100.

Hi Roy: Getting fined almost 10x than the cost should make the pet owners be more sensible and responsible.

Hi Roy, I like that there is a discount for pets that have been "taken are of". That shows a level of responsibility by the owner.

This is a great info for the new residents and a great reminder for the old ones. It's even encouraging to know that the fees were reduced, some don't have any excuses now. ;)
