ActiveRain Video Challenge Gave Me New Motivation.
Bob Crane for the second year in a row created a video challenge for ActiveRain members during August. In fact today is the last day to enter your videos. I want to thank both Bob and ActiveRain for holding this challenge as it has given me a new shot of motivation to create local videos.
Last year I entered the video challenge and everything was very difficult for me. I was technology challenged even though I had before this Challenge created a few videos. I just could not figure out how to add my own narration to video after it was shot. I even “Googled it Dude” with absolutely no help. I added some narration but I spoke while I was filming which does not work very well and is beyond difficult.
I wanted to figure how the narration issue but just hit brick walls and then I gave up. In the back of my mind I thought I would get back to this sometime in the future. I am convinced video is very important to any Realtor to separate from the rest of the huge pack of Realtors. We have way too many Realtors all fighting for the same business here in Katy.
Earlier this year Dick Greenberg ran his Sensi/Grasshopper Challenge. I asked via a post for help with adding narration. I got several comments plus Emails with suggestions. I bought a new headset with microphone. I also got plugged into sound recorder and finally via Comments, Emails and some Google data figured out how to add narration. Thanks to all who helped me.
This challenge found me trying to film with my Nikon camera which is not made for video. My videos were loaded with camera motor noise and my tripod made all kinds of noise and would not pan very well as it was sticking. I now need to learn how to use Audacity to edit sound.
I appreciate very much all folks who stopped by my video blogs and left positive comments. I really did not think my work was that good and I want to thank all who left me these wonderful comments. By forcing myself to make the video and add narration, I learned a huge amount about editing. I also decided to buy a new video camera plus accessories. See the below picture.
I plan to in the future to create videos of local Katy attractions, events and neighborhoods. The new camera is very easy to use and operate. Thanks everyone again.
