This is a recap of Hastings Oaks condos for sale along with those in escrow and sold in the first nine months of 2014. Statistical information for the Sierra Madre condominium complex is from our local multiple listing service as of October 16, 2014.
Hastings Oaks is a condominium complex in the city of Sierra Madre - a small city of approximately 11000 people adjacent to Pasadena and Arcadia tucked in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is located at the southeast corner of Sierra Madre Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue.
This small, idyllic city has no street lights and a volunteer fire department which should give you an indication for the feel of Sierra Madre. There is a small downtown area for shopping, dining and many everyday services. Typical cookie cutter development is rare in the city and it’s not unusual to find commercial buildings next to single family homes next to apartments or a condo project.
The city’s beautiful scenery provides a haven for many artists as evidenced by the number of galleries in the city. Each Spring, visitors flock to the Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival home of the Guinness-reported largest wistaria in the world -- it is a beautiful and interesting sight to see. The city has a definite small-town feel with a theatre with live performance and numerous community events held throughout the year.
Hastings Oaks consists of both single level and two story townhouse-style condos in a oak-sited garden setting. Built in 1963, the residences range from one bedroom to three bedrooms with approximate square footages of less than 600 to almost 1200. Most have a patio area and some have a balcony as well. The single level three bedroom plans have a handsome fireplace. Parking is primarily carport with some open spaces. There is common laundry facilities. There is also a pool at the rear of the complex.
There is currently just one Hastings Oaks condo on the market for sale. Newly listed, it is a two story two bedroom, one-and-one-half bath unit with approximately 988 square feet and is offered at $408,000. There is another two story two bedroom floor plan in escrow. In the first nine months of 2014, there have been two mls-reported closed transactions. A one bedroom sold in August for $271,000 and a two bedroom sold for $375,500 in February.
In the same January through September time period in 2013, there were also two mls-reported sales. Both two bedrooms with approximately 988 square feet they sold for $235,000(a short sale) and $349,000.
